Serena Bian

Serena Bian recently completed six years serving as a special advisor for Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General, to bring a spiritual inquiry to the public health crisis of loneliness and social isolation. As a Zen chaplain-in-training, she is pursuing initiatives around intergenerational leadership development in social movements, building local sanctuary and peace zones, and social healing. She is joyfully involved with intergenerational and interspiritual communities devoted to justice like the National Council of Elders and Nuns and Nones. Serena supports Commonweal and CoGenerate as a Board Member. She is a student of depth and transpersonal psychologies, Chinese ancestral wisdom, soul work, and just recovery as communities respond to the polycrisis.
