Tamice Spencer-Helms

Tamice Spencer-Helms serves as the Theologian in Residence at Our Own Deep Wells (OODW), where they bring visionary leadership and a commitment to soulful practices for collective wellness. They founded Sub:Culture Inc. in 2018 to provide holistic support and crisis relief for Black students, emphasizing spiritual and mental well-being. Their academic background includes Master’s degrees in contextual leadership and theology, with ongoing doctoral studies in social transformation—aligning closely with their work at OODW.

With over two decades in youth leadership and campus ministry, Tamice is recognized for contributions in theoactivism, philosophy of religion, and soulful leadership development, fostering inclusive spaces for diverse communities. Certified in religious trauma, LGBTQ2S+ inclusion and equity in higher education, and instructional design, they are dedicated to creating environments where all feel valued and supported. Outside OODW, Tamice is the author of Faith Unleavened and hosts the Life After Leaven podcast, exploring themes of faith, activism, and social change, inspiring individuals to seek resilience, healing, and transformation.
